Seng Tan - Independent Practitioner

Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor

Seng has been a registered psychologist since 2003. He has completed a Masters of Applied Developmental Psychology with a Graduate Diploma in Education – specialising in students with disabilities. He is also qualified in Career Development/Employment Services and in the 'Triple P' / Positive Parenting Program. He has been an active member of the APS College of Ed & Dev (Brisbane) since 2018 and he currently works full time as a Guidance Counsellor for a High School (Yr 7 - 12) in QLD.

He has a sound background in the treatment of children, adolescents, adults, couples and families for a broad range of issues, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, relationship (e.g., friendships, anger management), self-esteem issues, self-discovery (e.g., LGBTIQAP+) and catering for learning difficulties (e.g., ASD, ADHD, GAD etc) in the school context, such as assisting school staff to create, monitor and review learning adjustment/modification plans for students with disabilities. Seng is particularly experienced in developing risk management/behaviour management plans for students who self-harm or experience suicidal ideation, and transition plans for transgendered students in the school context.

Seng also has experience operating in Private Practice in a Forensic/Neuro/Clinical/Organisational capacity, assessing clients (e.g., clients from Child Safety whilst in Prison) for the Courts, and clients with injuries for WorkCover. He has experience in Competency Assessments for geriatric population in a Hospital setting and being an Expert Witness for the Courts.

Seng is particularly passionate about empowering clients of "at risk populations" to be the best version of themselves, such as people with verified disabilities, the LGBTIQAP+Sister Girl Brother Boy population, people from Culturally And Linguistically Diverse backgrounds and especially vulnerable children / adolescents. He is well versed in developing risk management/behaviour management plans for students who self-harm or experience suicidal ideation, and transition plans for transgender clients.

Seng is a board approved supervisor for those seeking supervision for the purpose of seeking General and/or Ed/Dev endorsement.
